Power Flushing is the cleansing of an existing central heating system and is generally performed prior to a boiler change to ensure that any major debris which could damage the new boiler is removed from the system.
It is important to chemically cleanse any existing radiators and pipes with a powerflush before installing a new appliance onto an old vented system as this removes a good percentage of the sludge and matter that could could get into the old central heating systems, as modern boiler appliances generally have smaller water ways which can block up easily.
To be able to guarantee their products, manufacturers require this procedure to be carried out and the information is put into the commissioning log book for future reference.
